The NewThing Mission Training Hub was established to plant new missions and to revitalize/relaunch current LCMS congregations in the greater Baltimore area. The heartbeat of NewThing is making disciples and spiritual formation. The NewThing Mission Training Hub exists with the intent to expand this kingdom vision in line with NewThing’s Lutheran Church’s Mission statement: “Igniting people to follow Jesus with an everyday faith.” Based on Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. 
 
We believe mission (or the idea of “being sent”) flows from a compassionate God whose love, expressed through Jesus Christ, calls us to live out the Kingdom of God in the here and now. The Holy Spirit encourages and enables the Body of Christ to put God’s Word into action, inspiring God’s transformation in the lives of individuals and communities.  
 
Serving the greater Church, the Mission Training Hub will serve as a training ground for communicating the Gospel to the emerging generation and establishing new and renewed Gospel missions in the Baltimore region. The Mission Training Hub of NewThing Lutheran Church, in partnership with Concordia Preparatory School, will provide an incubator for new mission development in the Baltimore region.
