Take a few moments, as a family, and review the lesson.
Read Exodus 20:2 (the fourth commandment). The fourth commandment is the only commandment that has a promise directly attached to it—”that your days may be long in the land the Lord is giving you.”
The fourth commandment is all about respecting authorities—not just parents, but also teachers, leaders, government, police officers, etc..
Why do you think that God attached a promise to this commandment?

Praying for Your Neighborhood
In his book, "Why Pray?", John DeVries states that when we consistently pray for a specific neighborhood in prayer, "the love of God shines into a neighborhood like the circle of light thrown by a theater spotlight upon the stage."
Take a walk in your neighborhood, and as you walk, pray for each home. Ask the Lord to have His peace reign in that house and for people in that house to be drawn into a deeper walk with Him. If you know the names of people in any of the houses, pray for people by name by saying, "Lord, be near to _______. Help them to experience joy in your presence today and rest in your love."
