Capturing the Truth
What important task does Nehemiah seek to accomplish and why was this important?
How would you summarize the story told in Esther?
What was your biggest takeaway from this lesson?
Use this space to include any other comments or questions you may have in light of this week's study.
Family Chat
Take a few moments, as a family, and review the lesson. Nehemiah persevered in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, despite opposition. His prayer amidst all the challenges was simply, "O God, strengthen my hands."
1. Nehemiah didn't ask that the challenges be removed, but that God would strengthen him so he could carry out the task before him. When is a time in your life when God "strengthened your hands" to persevere even though the situation or circumstance was difficult?
2. Why do you think that God allows obstacles, challenges, and even mean people to continue to make our journey difficult? What is He teaching us in the process as we pray for His strength?
Share prayer requests. Where do you need God's strength to persevere right now? Take time to pray for each other.
Daily Spiritual Rhythm - You were created for such a time as this!
Read Mordecai's words to Esther in Esther 4:13-14.
Write down on a blank sheet of paper the words, "I was created for such a time as this." Then take a couple minutes to be still before the Lord. Now let God lead you as you write down some of the reasons God has you right where you are at this moment - in the school you attend, with the activities you participate in, amongst the people and friends and family you live with or interact with. What might God want to do in and through your life as you live for Him? Who needs to meet Jesus through you by your words and actions? How can you be bold in your faith before others? Summarize your thoughts and brainstorms here.
