Take time to think about what you are learning about
God, His Story, and your life through this week's lesson.

Capturing the Truth

Family Chat

Take a few moments, as a family, and review the lesson. A couple of weeks ago we took a look at Jesus’ genealogy in Matthew 1 and found Rahab. We are going to take another look this week. Check out Matthew 1 and look for another name that you learned about in this week’s lesson.
Did you find Boaz? Check out who his mother was. God continues throughout the Old Testament to build a lineage for His son that shows His heart for all people. Remember—Rahab was not an Israelite. She had been a citizen of Jericho before it fell, yet God used her, a Canaanite. And you can see that God uses Ruth, Obed’s mother (we read about his birth in Ruth 4) to continue this line, even though she is a Moabite. The presence of each of these Gentile ladies reminds us that God has always cared for all of creation—that as Galatians 3:28 says, “there is neither Jew nor Greek...for we are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Daily Spiritual Rhythms Challenge

Think about your family line. Take a couple minutes and write down as many names of people in your family/extended family as you can. Show a parent your list and have them help you add some names. Now pause and reflect on how God has been at work in the lives of family members to pass on to you the importance of knowing Jesus and walking with Him. Take time here to offer up a prayer of thanksgiving to God for family who have helped encourage you to follow Jesus.
